2009, low sub, and your "top three"

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 24, 2009, 12:37 PM

Alrighty! This journal is about you, about me, and 2009.

I can't believe 09 is almost over! In all my life I don't think I've gone out of a year with such liveliness. There were some hardships, but if I could ever pick an almost perfect year I'd say it was 2009. Everything went smooth and gracefully, I got a lot accomplished and feel very fulfilled.

I've been inactive for a long time, so I'm thankful for those still here to read this. Thanks, friends offline and on! And thank you, 2009, for being so sublime!

Here are some things that I will do in 2010:
-Finish renovating our farm's pet graveyard
-Get back into kayaking
-Two new religious studies: Sikhism and Buddhism
-Get back in physical contact with friends from high school: Andrea, Jasmine, and most of all, Jon. Jon, if you're reading this, I miss you with all my heart and want to give you a big hug. <3

And in dA-related goals:
-Make a FULL comeback to dA
-Start sharing Fancy Clothes, the story with Elaaj. We're going to planet Kuutamo's neighbor, Hiskara-a'ara!
-Since the aforementioned story features mainly humans, I'll be doing a major convert into human art

Yep those are some nice goals. I hope you guys have some nice goals too. Peace and love,
-Ribbs

Subscription commissions!

My subscription here is running low. Would anybody here be willing to buy me a new subscription, of any length? I'd totally be willing to draw you a request if you're kind enough to do so! Please, somebody...? I'd forever be in your debt. <3

Here is where "you" comes in. I love learning about you guys, so by all means be as thorough as you'd likes!

What are your top three....
1. ...quirks other people consider weird or annoying?
2. ...favorite songs? Please link to a Youtube video if possible!
3. ...favorite films?
4. ...favorite books?
5. ...things you want to do before dying?

Blank journal, please ignore :U

Thu Dec 24, 2009, 12:29 PM
This is a blank placeholder journal. When the time comes I'll use it as a thumbnail collection for my Fancy Clothes story, just as I do (did?) with my Emalia series. I just... didn't want this on my front page.

So for now, just ignore this journal. I'll get it up and ready when I start posting my Fancy Clothes art. ;D

Ten things!

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 4, 2009, 2:52 PM

Quite a big journal! I have ten tiny updates, questions, complaints, or musings for this month of December. Here they are:

1. I'm going back to my old icon soon. I promised that I'd keep this Doc Bandam icon for one month, and it's been almost a year. Oops!

2. Our late-blooming rooster Clyde recently learned how to crow. He hasn't stopped since. Gah, shut up Clyde!

3. We have extended family over in the UK; Wales and England. A while ago they were over here and commented on how hard it is to understand our accent. It made me wonder: to non-Americans, how DOES the American accent sound? I'd always imagined that we sound lazy and mumbling... haha!

4. I'm looking for good FILM scores. I'm seeking something sweeping and symphonic, and action-packed if possible. Does anybody have any recommendations?

5. If you didn't answer this question in my previous update (most did), I'd love to hear about your favorite musical genres. Rap, drum&bass, happy hardcore, new age, blues, and oldies rank as my favorites. What are yours?

6. Sorry for not posting any personal, brainworld-type art. Lately I haven't been feeling like posting any of this stuff. Some time in the future I might share recent Emalia works, or maybe Fancy Clothes if I choose to.

7. Speaking of which, let me again thank those who do take the time to look at fanart I post. It means a lot if you appreciate something you don't recognize or understand. :]

8. Have you ever heard of a Walk-thru? We were on a roadtrip on Thanksgiving when we saw a McDonald's with one of these. It was a first for me!

9. I'm still kind of inactive here. Again, you've got my apologies.

10. And...thanks, if you read all that. :3

[old life update]
Life's going so good you'd never believe it! We've received our first rain and it's made our life so much easier. Nothing says "hurrah" like fields of lush green grass. The cool weather's pretty sweet too. Autumn is here, Venture Bros season 4 has premiered, our farm is swell, work is steady, and to say the least I'm very happy!

The only bad thing is that our spring-born chickens are now grown, and we ended up with five roosters out of a flock of 18. FIVE! There's gonna be Hell up here on this farm! (EDIT: I had to kill Velociraptor, our barred rock rooster, because he attacked two others. We now have four roosters.)

Cheers and peace,
~Ribbs

Epic stamp collection

Wed Apr 30, 2008, 9:36 PM
My stamp collectioooon. A stamp collection is a healthy alternative to cramming sixty stamps into your shoutboard, and are tons of fun to keep. I've got like... over one hundred at this point. Hahaha. :3

If you find any stamps that you think I'd like, tell me. I love recommendations!

Emalian thumbnail collection

CURRENT STORY: "Ribbontail: Enter Emalia"

Hi there!

Emalia is a personal series I've kept close to my heart for many years. When I was eleven my life hit a brick wall (death of my father, a financial crisis, and loss of friends), and so to escape from the real world I created Emalia. It was at first a means of escapism, but now it's a hobby and spiritual venture both.

The Emalia series- more specifically, the Ribbontail series- revolves around a planet named Kuutamo. This planet is currently suffering from a war between the Emalians (the "good guys") and the Eclipsians (the "bad guys"), and it's up to the gods to straighten things out.

Our main character is Ribbontail, and the main theme of the series (seven books total) is her quest to become a god. But a rival deity Eclipse isn't too happy about this, and he and his Eclipsians are all aiming to stop her. Go Ribbontail go!

Informational Journals/Deviations:
Complete Story Map
Summonings
The Elements

From left to right: Ribbontail (the main character), Fidei (a fellow child-god), PuppetRibbontail (Ribbontail's kinder guardian) WereRibbontail (Ribbontail's less friendly guardian), and NeoRibbontail (a servant of Eclipse).

In order there is Sasha the Goddess of Emalia, En Fuego the Loyal (fire), Hekes the titan of the earth (earth), Xoo the carrier of the stars (air), Ai the Fierce (nature), Pola the Loving (ice), Aques the entity of the seas (water), Riddle the Cunning (death), Why-yeh the Wise (light), WarriorFang the Quiet (machine), and Natas the Brave (darkness).

Residents of Emalia, most of these characters fall into the protagonistic category. Their society, technologies, and cultures are far more varied than that of their Eclipsian rivals, but they're for the most part more good-hearted. Yet it would be incorrect to call them peaceful folk, as they have as much hatred for Eclipsians as Eclipsians have for them. Let's just say that the Eclipsian/Emalian hate-relationship is mutual.

O’liday is a cheerful feliulf who travels Emalia, seeking out new places to chill. He meets Ribbontail and follows her on her first quest. Three years later is captured by Eclipsians and once more reunited with his ribbon-tailed friend.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 1, Ribbontail 4, Ribbontail 4 prelude

Timothy is a grumpy businessman Ribbontail and company encounter while on their first quest. He befriends O'liday, and the two later become best buds. 83
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 1, Ribbontail 4 prelude

The Tintonian Lion is a fierce Summoning who lives in the jungles of Tinto; his powers are of shadows and illusion. He dislikes other Emalians and Eclipsians alike, and will fight off anybody who steps into his land.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 1

Ra'Kiroo and Huska are totally partners. Ra'Kiroo is a master magician always asking the gods for favors, and his assistant Huska is always carrying him around. What a silleh duo. :]
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 1, Ribbontail 2, Ribbontail 5

Electrabbit is a Summoning with the power to switch to an electrical current form. Because of this Electrabbit has the power to travel through power lines, phone lines, water-saturated clouds, and electrical devices. Electrabbit was hired by Riddle to get Ribbontail (in her human form) killed.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 1

Kerberos, living in the northern part of the North Sandstones desert, is a wise old creature who enjoys storytelling. He is a very religious character, and will sacrifice his life for the safety of his gods- in this case, Ribbontail.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 1

Mallet is a coke-headed, spoiled BeastSport creature who is famous for his speed and electric powers. Mallet meets NeoRibbontail and ParasiteX, joining them as a trio of friends. MOAR!
Appearances in the series: BeastSport

Dirge is the daughter of NeoRibbontail and ParasiteX. She's a young and jovial creature who adds an air of softness to her parents' hard, strenuous, and frightening lives. MOAR!

ParasiteX, known for his fierceness and brutality in battle, is an aspiring BeastSport creature. He's famous for his hideousness and also for his strange intelligence. ParasiteX is the mate of NeoRibbontail, and father of Dirge. He changed NeoRibbontail's life by teaching her how to survive in the cruel BeastSport creatures' life. More!
Appearances in the series: BeastSport

Idiwarda was once an Emalian bar worker, a faithful and kind-hearted dancer and singer. She was captured many years ago and cursed, forced to live as an Eclipsian who converted Emalians against their own gods. Idiwarda switches in and out of her faith, and is finally freed by Ribbontail.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 4, Ribbontail 4 prelude

Because of their undeniable rivalry with the Emalians, most Eclipsians are perceived as the antagonistic characters. Their devotion to their god makes the Eclipsians fierce, fearless raiders, and it is said that Eclipsian fighters will do anything in the name of their god. Though the main population still remains in the Eclipsian lands, thousands of vicious raiders and hunters are stationed on Emalia. They're not very friendly, these guys!

Eclipse is the main antagonist of the entire series, a weakened and often timid god who comes from another planet. Though they were once friends and allies, Eclipse and the Emalian gods are fierce rivals. Frankly said: Eclipse hates Emalians.
Appearances in the series: All

OmenBeast is a mighty Eclipsian who is obsessive with his hunting. He will go at anything to hunt down Emalians, and he prefers famous ones- Ribbontail and Dexter to be precise. The worst part? He’s backed by an army of friends and family. Damn!
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 1, Ribbontail 2, Ribbontail 4

OmenTyke is the little son of OmenBeast. He follows his mother faithfully and lives in the Badlands, where he dreams of becoming an Emalian hunter.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 4

The Queen Antlion is the mate of OmenBeast and mother of OmenTyke. She works as a guard in the Badlands, and is a monstrous beast with a keen dedication to her job. She dies trying to defend her land from Ribbontail.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 4

Screech is a dreadfully idiotic and reckless Eclipsian who was so stupid, he fell into a canyon and couldn’t figure out how to get out. Ribbontail and friends stumble upon him.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 1

The Judge is one of the highest authorities in the Badlands. He is an Eclipsian who determined whether intruding Emalians are converted to Eclipsianism, released into a deadly desert, or killed. He also owns Idiwarda like a pet. Ouch.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 4

Hyedara, forever sentenced by his god to rest in the oceans of Emalia, is a flying whale with a strange love for Emalian fish. He is generally a peaceful beast despite his alliance, but will attack anything that harms its oceanic friends.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 3

HellHound, later known as ShivaHound is the sister of OmenBeast. She is dedicated to her older sibling and after her death seeks to destroy Ribbontail. She has a long list of secrets, anomalies, and legends behind her, and even more are added once she enters the series.
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 3-5

Infineon is an Eclipsian who has lived as an Emalian for two decades. Though her reputation amongst Emalian traders is a favorable one, it is said that she's got dark intentions...
Appearances in the series: Ribbontail 1

The King of Blades is the BeastSport champion, once a simple goat Emalian, who was beaten into insanity then turned into a horrendous monster. He is a famed creature and a crowd favorite. Pity goes out to anybody who is forced to fight him…
Appearances in the series: BeastSport

Alpha, Delta, Beta, and Gamma, the long-passed Eclipsian demigods, were horrendous Eclipsians who once terrorized the lands. The three former ones were slaughtered by the Emalian gods, and Alpha was enslaved Riddle the Cunning. Omega, the leader who has never been seen, was imprisoned by Eclipse himself in the Badlands.
Alpha - Delta - Beta - Gamma

Fan characters/Gift concepts: I readily accept fancharacters and concepts. Some of my friends come up with the BEST ideas for Emalian creatures. I plan on making the characters canon; they will appear in a story one way or another. <3
